Excellence in Leadership Foundations

Schenck’s Excellence in Leadership Foundations series is designed to provide managers with the essential leadership skills they need to support their organization.

Your managers play a crucial role in employee retention, getting product out the door, delivering outstanding customer service and carrying out your organization’s strategy.

However, effectively leading a team requires a different set of skills than those honed as an individual contributor.

Give your managers the tools they need to thrive

Schenck’s Excellence in Leadership Foundations Series is a focused four-month program designed to provide managers with the critical knowledge necessary to successfully lead themselves, a team and their organization.

Attendees will learn how the transition to a leadership role means applying different skills. Participants will receive practical advice and guidance for how to apply their new skills in their day-to-day interactions. Sessions will be facilitated using a guided process that includes presentation, group discussion, role playing and self-assessments to reveal attendees’ own leadership style and how to be effective in their organizations.

Topics to be covered include:

  • First-time leader realities: when friendship and management collide
  • Leading yourself: understanding your and your supervisor’s DISC profile
  • Expectations of leadership: moving from being responsible for yourself to working through others
  • Accountability for yourself and your team
  • Recognizing and addressing harassment
  • Leading during periods of change and dealing with conflict
  • Communication skills
  • Handling crucial conversations
  • Giving and receiving feedback
  • Progressive discipline
  • Time management
  • Leading different generations

All courses are led by members of Schenck’s Business Optimization team who have years of experience guiding businesses and leading change in organizations.
